One time I spent a few days in Dunedin because bushwalking had ripped up my toes, derailing other bushwalking, and the flights home were still a way off. Mostly we just kept visiting the Dunedin Public Art Gallery because Taryn Simon’s An American Index of the Hidden and Unfamiliar and Cao Fei’s Utopia were being exhibited there. Entry was free, and you could spend a lot of time staring at this stuff and watching and re-watching Cao Fei’s videos, especially Whose Utopia and Cosplayers. I always associate them now: Taryn Simon-Cao Fei-Dunedin.
