I don’t know if you gave me The Ring if I could carry it and bring it to Ozamorph, or whatever you call it. <3 u Joaquin Phoenix | Interview Magazine

Mark Wahlberg & Joaquin Phoenix in The Yards

Last year when I went to see The Yards/James Gray at the Museum of the Moving Image, it was basically a perfect evening in my Joaquin-Wahlberg-Felicity-loving life. Because I got to watch The Yards, which I love, IN Queens, and James Gray proved himself as the best DVD commentary I ever watched repeatedly, etc. It was all as great as expected.
BUT ALSO, when the credits rolled and listed Matt Reeves as co-writer, someone OTHER than me - the guy sitting next to me - nodded to the screen, nudged his girlfriend, and whispered, “Felicity writer”. (!!!) I mean, first of all just KNOWING that (at this distance from its high point of relevance in 1999). But then also WANTING TO TELL SOMEBODY. Too great. Too exactly the best. A great holiday.
(“Felicity writer” is the reason I watched The Yards in the first place, because sometimes I am great at decisions.)

But while few things are more titillating than a hollow shell, no one is actually a cipher. Celebrity may disfigure personality, but it doesn’t obliterate it Christopher Glazek | Phoenixes | n+1 Issue 14
